I have used photoshop to label the main feautures of a magazine cover.
Masthead - This is the name of the magazine which is usually positioned at the top. The masthead is used contuously throughout each issue.
Main coverline - This is usually relating to the main feature of the magazine and will be larger than most of the text on the cover to make it stand out.
Sub-heading - This gives a little more information on the main feature of the magazine and is usually positioned in the same area as the main coverline.
Essential info - This is aspects such as the issue number and price. These are usually small as they are considered as 'boring.'
Coverlines - There are usually around 5 or more of these located at the sides of the magazine, these show other articles/features inside the magazine.
Colour - most magazines tend to keep to a paricular theme of colours in order to look classy and proffessional
Main image - this is the large image on the cover which is usually the main feature of the magazine relatng to the main coverline. there is usually only one image on the cover.
